The Civic Space Watchdog is an AI-assisted, human-verified monitoring platform documenting civic space restrictions and human rights violations across the MENA region.

Our Mission

We aim to provide accurate, timely documentation of violations against freedom of expression, assembly, and association in Tunisia, Egypt, and across the MENA region. Our platform combines artificial intelligence with expert human review to ensure reliable, actionable information for advocates, researchers, and policymakers.

Methodology

Our monitoring process follows a rigorous methodology: continuous source monitoring, AI-assisted extraction of incident data, expert verification and review, and publication of verified incidents with full citation and context.
